BLOOM

For my Google UX Design Certificate, I developed a personal project called Bloom, driven by the goal of creating a meaningful and engaging interactive experience.

I conducted in-depth research to understand the target audience's needs and pain points, which guided the development and design process. Then designed a new interactive experience that enhances user engagement.

Objective

To develop an app tailored for florists of all experience levels,

PROBLEMS

Limited resources to explore ideas before purchasing

With tight budgets and limited access to a wide variety of flowers and materials, it’s hard to experiment with new designs without committing to a purchase. This restriction can stifle creativity and make it difficult to stand out in a competitive market.

Struggling to know the trends and flower variations

Florists often find it challenging to keep up with the latest trends and flower variations, which limits their ability to offer unique designs. Staying updated requires constant research and access to diverse suppliers, which can be difficult. Without this knowledge, florists risk losing customers to competitors who provide more trendy and diverse options.

The struggle to build strong relationships with vendors can limit their access to high-quality flowers and competitive pricing. Without solid vendor partnerships, florists may face inconsistent supply, limited choices, and difficulty negotiating better deals

Building relationships with vendors

Developing a tool that enables users to experiment with different floral designs before making a purchase.

Primarily use social platforms for inspiration and have minimal online ordering systems.

This approach leads to frustrations due to the lack of personal exploration, creativity, and convenience.

While social platforms and in-person ordering offer benefits such as trend following and relationship maintenance, they fall short in fostering personal growth as a creative individual and comparison of stock and prices.

After conducting user interviews, I discovered that florists

I have developed strong skills in prioritizing diverse user needs, ensuring that design decisions are aligned with what users find most essential. By creating new features that maximize user experience, I’ve been able to enhance overall engagement. I’ve also worked on developing cohesive brand identities that resonate with target audiences and maintain consistency across platforms.

LEARNING POINTS

I plan to improve the app by further refining the filtering functions to allow for more detailed and precise searches. I also want to add a history page for bouquet generation, giving users the ability to revisit and modify previous designs. I also aim to gather feedback on the messaging system between florists and vendors to enhance communication and streamline collaboration.
